The year 2010 was very eventful for the entire Glaeser family. Mike, our eldest, and his wife Emily announced their pregnancy earlier in the year, and on November 22nd, we welcomed the arrival of our first grandchild, Emma Kathryn. She has definitely won our hearts over and has given Sherry a new reason to shop. Mike and Emily bought a house and settled in Webster the previous summer.
Their “to do” list has now taken precedence over any home projects that I may have. Katie, our oldest daughter, announced her engagement this past summer. Her fiance', Kevin, is a Manager in the emergency admissions department at St. Johns and has recently taken on management duties overseeing their urgent care facilities. They have planned a Labor Day 2011 wedding on Jekyll Island, Georgia. Since we started vacationing on Jekyll, Katie has always wanted to get married at Faith Chapel in the Historic District. Now, our future vacations will carry a greater meaning as we reminisce of their nuptials. Emily, 15, is continuing her schooling at Viz and is now a freshman in the upper school. Her studies take up a large portion of her time, although she still finds time for a few outside activities.
She has joined the Ambassadors at Viz and promotes the school at open houses and other school events. Abbey, 13, is finishing up middle school and will have her class trip to Chicago later this Spring. She is looking forward to high school and has applied at Ursuline Academy and Lutheran High School South. She enjoys helping in the kitchen and assisted in baking 24 loaves of pumpkin/chocolate chip bread for gifts during the holiday season. Sherry and I are trying to adapt to all the changes and are enjoying our first grandchild. Emma has taken after Abbey when she was a child as she always wants to be a part of the action and doesn't like to nap. Our four pets are constantly hovering around the wood-burning stove and have forged new alliances to share the space. Sam, our senior cat, is hyperthyroid and diabetic, but seems to be well controlled at this time. Hazel, the middle cat, spends most of the time hiding in our children's room away from our sometimes rambunctious Lab, Ella. Max loves his food, but his stay will be brief as he will be moving out with Katie once she is married. We hope that last year treated you well and wish you all a blessed and prosperous 2011.
